In my Thesis Capstone, The Art of Slowing Down, my artwork avoids the fast-paced, rushed nature of modern life and instead embraces a slow, intentional way of living. In my creative practice I utilize traditional materials and processes such as quilting, dyed textiles, mixed media, and painting to display the significance of human connection, importance of family heirlooms, and the impact of childhood memories. By preserving and sharing fundamental skills and knowledge that have been passed down to me by my loved ones, I am able to gain a tangible connection and insight into my family history, while taking inspiration from sentimental mementos and cherished memories that I deeply value.
